Youngstown Charity Open Feb 24-26 2006 continued After a good nights sleep and a nice breakfast I am ready to go for a long day of darts. If you have never been to the Youngstown shoot let me tell you there is alot of people in attendance. The first event is Men's Doubles cricket at 10am. Wade and I creep through a field of 200men into the money rounds but get retired in the quarter-finals. We played strong despite the fact I was coming down with a bit of a stomach bug. Up next was Singles 501. By this time my stomach was really bothering me and I considered sitting out of the event entirely. But I came to play darts so I ponied up the entry anyway. Gary Kidd knocks me out first round with a pair of 15dart legs and its time to find some pepto bismal and rest. After a little recuperation, a motrin, and a half a bottle of pepto bismal I was feeling a bit better. The next event was Mixed Triples, Wade and I have added hall of famer Sue Bushi to our line-up. We plug along solidly until the semi-finals where we meet up with Darin Young, Isen Veljic, and superwoman herself Stacy Bromberg. Stacy and company are too strong and our journey ends one match short in the top 4. The final event of the evening is the Blind Draw. And the combination of my afternoon nap, the pepto, and the motrin I decide to sign up. Over 170 other people agreed with me and toed the line. What a mistake, we end up going out in the quarter-finals and I am just exhausted. A good reminder of why I usually skip those events. |
