World Series of Darts May 19-21 2006 cont The Post-Match After Wayne won I toasted the crowd who were just terrific!! And we had a little dance on stage. Someone had told me earlier in the day to take time to soak in the moment and this is the time I choose. I will never forget looking at all those faces in the crowd and what it meant to feel such support even in defeat. There are no words for how good that really feels. I was of course gutted in defeat. I knew the game I played on stage was okay but certainly not exceptional by my standards. The nerves never got me but I never got into a flow and it was a fight for every turn. When I saw the averages they were pretty much in line with how I felt. I was encouraged having the highest average of all the Americans on stage that day. But I know I have a better game in me and next time I will be a bit more prepared having had this experience. The World Series of Darts will be ultra-positive in the US. This series will effectively introduce the sport to mainstream America. The event with a few exceptions pitted a group of underdog amateur American players against the best 16 dart players on the planet. I believe the texture of the matches viewed in that context will be a huge hit! The whole show revolves around the public relating to the American players and sharing a dream. To come out of nowhere and be competitive with the very best in the world - a shot at a million dollars. When you see the interviews and back-stories on air I think you will see what I mean. No, the actual match results were not ideal. And of course, everyone would have loved to see an American win. But I think many of us proved that we belong on stage and with a bit more experience have the skills to pull it off. In the end, it was an experience I will never forget. Most people never get their moment in the sun. And hopefully this won't be my last. Depending on what happens with sponsorship and finances I plan on making a big splash in the PDC and bringing American to the very pinnacle of Professional Darts. Whos with me?
