Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3

St Pat's Dart Tournament Mar 17-19 2006 continued

Sunday kicks off with the mixed doubles. This time my partner is Sharon Riojas and Im feeling very confident about winning it all. Sharon plays well as always but I miss a key shot and we fall out in the quarter-finals. Not the result I expected but at least it wasnt a top4 finish. Or has the curse gotten worse?

Next up is the final event of the weekend, Men's Cricket Singles. I am bound and determined to break through and end the weekend on a high note. I play very strong throughout the event and blaze into yet another semi-finals. This time my opponent is a red-hot Tom "Chopper" Williams. He is scorching the board and I am dead set against losing this match under any circumstances. The stage is set for an epic battle.

After splitting a pair of thousand plus point games we stride into the last stanza. In the final leg, Tom shoots 3 round of nines and I reply with 4 perfect shots of my own. After nearly 3 thousand points I finally go ahead to leave Tom with only bullseyes to point on. A 6bull on his next turn sends a clear message he isn't done yet. After a dozen or so more volleys to get the point edge I finally land the last bullseye to advance to finals. I can't stress it enough this was by far the best cricket match I've ever been involved with. After the match we hugged and nearly collapsed as everyone in the gallery showed their appreciation with a standing ovation.

The finals was a less drawn out affair. My opponent was fellow WSOD qualifier and my good friend Isen Veljic. Again we played for bragging rights, and Isen came out on top shooting yet another 6bull shot to win over a 3 leg distance.

It was a very exciting weekend and a lot of fun was had by all. Overall my results weren't the best ever but that semi-final clash with Chopper will be remembered by all who witnessed it for a long time. And I was very encouraged by my strong showing to finish the weekend that started so badly on the practice boards.
