St Pat's Dart Tournament Mar 17-19 2006

Another weekend and another dart tournament. This time its the St Pat's open in Indianapolis, IN. My partner for the weekend is Bruce "Bruski" Cottrell. If you havent met Bruce before hes the tall fellow drinking something that appears to have been scraped from a sewer - he calls it slime.

The first event of the weekend is the Pro Singles and I warm up terrible. I simply can not find the mark and have a hard time justifying entering the event. Ultimately, my entry rests in the outcome of a coin flip, it turns up heads and go fill out my ticket. After waiving goodbye to my money I quickly head to the practice board again to find my game.

The first round I run into John Adams fresh off two singles finals the weekend before in Lexington. John is a quite southern gentlemen that prefers to let his darts do the talking for him and in the first game they were screaming. After opening the match with a 180 - 140 volley he wraps up the lead in just 12 darts. The next game is cricket and somehow my darts start to find the trebles for the win. The third leg John wins the bullseye and not suprisingly calls 501. I fire up a maximum on the first shot and smack in a 12 darter of my own to advance.

Ultimately I meet Ed "BamBam" Debenke in the finals. A quick agreement to play for the trophy and Ed comes out on top for the bragging rights of bold type. A second place finish in the first singles of the weekend is somewhat encouraging after my top4 fest just a week prior. I opt out of the draw doubles and look forward to a resful evening and to return rejuvinated for the next day's events.
