Great Lakes Dart Classic / NDHOF Induction Sept 28-Oct 1 2006

Tim Doty found his way on my team by some strange set of circumstances. And we swept our first match 3-0 before he had to leave for the studio. Smiles were abound as he made his exit and I couldn't have been more pleased.

Eventually, Steve Brown's team took first place over my own band of lunatics. There was no prize money, no trophy, just goodwill among darts players. And I have to say it was the most meaningful second place I've ever taken. Money was raised for charity, a great time was had by all, and the sport recieved the exposure it so desperately deserves. All and all, I have to say despite the cancellations it was a great success!

Friday evening rolls around and its time for the "weakest link" singles. In this event everyone who participates gets 3 darts for score with the lowest total being eliminated every round. This continues until only one person is left. I make the final two players and my opponant in none other then Darin "Don't call me Dr. Phil" Young. So its three darts for all the money and Darin lands a last dart triple 19 to end the event. But being my birthday and all Darin agrees to split the funds and even buys me a drink! Try to find a nicer guy out there and you will be looking a long time.

The next event is the Blind Draw and I get top local player Dawn Jones as my partner. After reaching the money rounds Dr. Phil, errr I mean Darin Young and Dawn's husband Monty send us packing. It was fun, tight, and competitve match. But apparently Dawn didn't take the loss too well as evidenced by this picture. Ouch! Don't worry though Darin recovered quickly and walked like and egytian into a semi-final finish.

After accepting way too many birthday celebration drinks it was time to make the 10minute commute home. This weekend my chauffer was "Big" John Bennett who was crashing at the hotel Depriest for the weekend. After a quick stop for a late night dinner it was time to get some rest for the next day.
