Easy Money Open Mar 10-122006 continued Its time for Men's Doubles 501 and Im confident that its time to break into the winner's circle. Steve and I seem to be clicking on all cylinders and jet into the semis. This time our opponents are Manuel Lairson and the legendary Tony Payne. Steve may have awakened a sleeping giant razzing them about losing to us in the previous two events. Tony checks out 115 in the third leg to move into the finals. The final event of Saturday is the Men's Four Person Team. Steve and I are joined by Isen Veljic and Gary Mawson to form a very competitive team indeed. This time Chopper, Scott, Danny, and Brad all combine their mojo to knock us out in the semi-finals once again. A disappointing day to be sure but I felt that I played well reaching at least the semi-finals of every event on the day. Another good nights sleep and its time for Sunday's events. I opt to skip the mixed doubles early and concentrate on winning the 501 singles. As the singles start time approaches I go on a search for Rolaids to soothe my disgruntled stomach. Unfortunately, my first round was called before I could find any relief and an annoyed Brad Wethington was waiting for me. A note of warning, don't make Brad second call you as it really seems to fire his game up a notch. After splitting the first two legs in 15 darts each, Brad wins the bull and fires in a brilliant 12 darter to end my weekend. I find some comfort in watching Brad win the event over a very game John Adams of Indiana. On the long ride home we joke about the bullseye on my back. It is even suggested I get a dart shirt with a bullseye graphic. I reply if I do the graphic will be very small as everyone seems to hit the present one at will. Not the best results of the year but it was still a blast and we didn't let John drive over the bridge on the return journey! |
