Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3

Easy Money Open Mar 10-122006

All the hard work payed off and with the WSOD qualifier things are heating up. Next target is the Easy Money Open - destination Lexington, Kentucky. My partner for the weekend is again fellow Michigan native, Steve Hertzfeld.

I had played the Easy Money Open just once before back in 1990 as a youth shooter. It was a fun time and the very first major ADO tournament of which I made the finals, winning a 525 entry blind draw with Doug Holicky. The seven hour road trip gave me plenty of time to reflect on darts and my career over the years. And I was looking forward to a great tournament filled with reunions and fun times.

The first event of the weekend was the pro singles and we almost didnt make it in time for the event. My travel companions, Sue Cherry, and John Laban nearly broke a land speed record in the last hour of the journey. And it was in the closing leg of the journey that I discovered John has a serious phobia of bridges. Knowledge I would have prefered to have not learned while going 90 miles an hour with him driving! Ahh the exciting times of tournament travel...

Upon arriving to the venue we discover there is again no public smoking but the organizers have set up a smoking lounge across the hall. A small room with 4 dartboards looked to be my cancer chamber for the weekend.
