BloodShot Open Feb 10-11 2006 The first tournament of the year and I almost didn't even go. Monday morning the phone rings, and the voice on the other end asks if I am planning on shooting the Bloodshot Open that weekend. Its Sue Cherry, a local player and hardcore dart addict trying to drag me to another tournament. I tell her I hadn't planned on it and needed a partner. She offers to make some calls for me and advices I do the same. My first call was to my partner in crime and fellow Michigander, Steve Hertzfeld. he is a former national champion and we play a fair amount of events together. Its not to be this time as he is set to play with Steve Brown that weekend. Damn, I hate that Steve Brown! A dozen phone calls later and I am still without a partner for the tournament. So Tuesday I decide to call Sue back and let her know I wont be going after all. The next few days more phone calls ensued and I go through 3 partners setting up and then cancelling. I guess its just not to be this time. Then Thursday evening, Tom Williams better known as Chopper calls me and we set up to play the cricket doubles as his partner has to leave early. So I call Sue back up and let her know I will be going after all. We make plans to leave Friday afternoon around 1:30pm to hopefully make the first event at 7pm. Its going to be close as Columbus is a 5+ hour trip for us. Anyway, its on! |
